Most people wouldn’t know a good workout plan if it came up and bit them. most people go to the gym, watch what other people do and fumble though their workouts. Their body shape never changes, they never get leaner, most don’t even look like they go to the gym, and that is even after years of going to the gym. If that’s you, then you really need to read this. Even if that’s not you and you think you have a good grasp on working out, read on, you never know what you may learn.
The Anatomy of a Good Workout Plan:
1. Warm-up:
5-10 minutes of light exercise such as stationary biking, running in place, the stairmaster, elliptical trainer, etc is all you need for a good warm-up. you know your warm-up is done, once you’ve broken into a light sweat. That’s your body telling you that it’s ready to exercise. Warmed muscles, tendon and ligaments lead to an injury free training session.
2. Stretching:
Stretching, much like a proper warm-up can be done in only 5-10 minutes. Light, static stretching, working from the top of your body on down. Stretched and elastic muscles, tendons and ligaments are far less prone to injury than unstretched ones. be sure to only stretch after a proper warm-up. Stretching a cold muscle is an injury waiting to happen.
3. Goal Setting:
Write down your goals. do you want to lose 10 pounds of fat? Gain 10 pounds of muscle? be able to bench press 305? whatever your goal, write it down and refer to it often. now you don’t have to write your goals down, but if you have more than one, it helps to keep track of them
4. Training Journal:
Get a small notebook and record every training session and everything you do in it. Record your sets, reps, weight used, etc. A training journal will help motivate you and keep you on the path to reaching your goals. I have used one for over 15 years. there is no better motivational tool.
5. The Best Workout Routine:
What is the best workout routine? there are so many to choose from. Well, really the best workout routine is the one that matches up with your goal. All you have to do is find the one that works. Yes, easier said than done, I know, but if you know where to look, it is.
